Mayo in Top 100 Most Unhealthy Food!

More ammunition in our war against mayo, thanks to x-raytechnicianschools.org . The condiment from hell made their top 100 list of Most Unhealthy Food in the American Diet. I would like to have seen it placed a bit higher than 52 but still happy about the negative publicity. And it’s a double dose of negative press because tartar sauce,(infected with substantial amounts of mayonnaise) got placed at 56 as well! Of course, all of us fighting this battle have hated mayo instinctively at a very young age, based on taste, smell and consistency. When you are 5 years old, you are not conscious of any health factors like cholesterol and fat levels. But that doesn’t mean we should avoid using this angle to convert more people away from the devil’s spew. This is all out Sandwich War so let’s use any means at our disposal. If anyone is brainwashed enough to feel like raw eggs on a sandwich is normal behavior, we can try scaring them away with tales of artery clogging and weight gain.

    Who cares f it’s unhealthy? The best reason to hate mayo is that godawful taste.

    I agree with you 100%! You absolutely identified the main issue However this is a political battle we are fighting as well and to help turn those who have messed up taste buds and thus, are not offended by the aroma, consistency and of course taste of this white gunk, the “health” angle is still a very strong recruiting tool to help us win over a majority!

    The claims that mayo is unhealthy are based on old junk science. The cholesterol in eggs has not been shown to increase serum LDL levels, and even the claims of saturated fats being a major killer are crumbling under scientific scrutiny, with Omega 6 fatty acids and refined carbohydrates being the real culprits of American health problems.

    Thanks for the comment. Since you are specifically addressing the health issue, which I do appreciate since that was the main theme of this post, we’ll completely bypass the absurdity of you wanting to utilize raw eggs as a means to add moisture to your sandwiches. Let’s just stay focused on the nutrition angle.

    The main ingredient in mayonnaise is actually processed soybean oil which is toxic. In many studies, it has been shown to cause internal inflammation. It contains an excess of omega 6 fatty acids which unbalances your omega 6 to omega 3 ratio.(which is a topic that you ironically address above)

    Now of course, no condiment is technically good for you and all should be used in moderation. But in comparison specifically to the other “majors”, mayo is clearly the most calorie dense, fat laden condiment out there. This is why we welcome these discussions about health as we know that is a losing battle for your side.
